Power and Control

Vantage on Azure on a do-it-yourself basis gives users who want to work independently the power and control they seek.

Pay only for what’s provisioned, eliminating large capital outlays and removing risk. Subscriptions include Teradata Vantage software. Customers select and pay for Azure infrastructure separately; on-demand, reserved, and dedicated virtual machines may all be used.

Vantage Software Tiers

Vantage software on Azure Marketplace is available in Developer, Base, Advanced, and Enterprise tiers; each entitles subscribers to certain features and ecosystem software. All four tiers include Teradata Vantage with Row-Level Security, Secure Zones, and Teradata Columnar plus the ecosystem capabilities of Teradata Data Stream Controller, Teradata Ecosystem Manager, Teradata Query Service, Teradata Server Management, Teradata Tools and Utilities, and Teradata Viewpoint.

Teradata Vantage Developer (Free, DIY)

Try Vantage with this free software for non-production workloads such as development, data labs, and discovery. Node limit of 2 and a system concurrency limit of 2. Customers are responsible for Azure resource usage charges. Forum-only support.

Teradata Vantage Base (DIY)

Powerful software tier boasting exceptional economics via a system concurrency limit of 15. Embedded analytic functions include 4D analytics (time series, geospatial, temporal), nPath, sessionization, attribution, and scoring. Teradata Premier Cloud Support.

Teradata Data Stream Controller provides data resilience for backup and restore operations to and from Azure Premium and Blob storage that can help overcome data loss caused by user error, system hardware failure, application failure, and natural disasters, while also satisfying long-term storage requirements imposed by corporate and government regulations. This free software VM is included with each Vantage tier.

Teradata Ecosystem Manager (DIY)

Teradata Ecosystem Manager provides an end-to-end approach to meeting application service level agreements through monitoring, administration, and control of both single and multi-system environments for more effective management of every part of an analytic environment. It provides workflow design and control as well as end-to-end job monitoring – applications, jobs, servers, tables, and system readiness. This free software VM is included with each Vantage tier except Developer.

The Teradata Query Services provides a REST (Representational State Transfer) interface to Vantage for application developers to have a simplified, modern, common interface to connect to data from a web page or application. It is a foundation for supporting Restful APIs into various Teradata products. This free software VM is included with each Vantage tier.

Teradata Server Management (DIY)

Teradata Server Management monitors the Vantage instance and generates alerts related to errors and operational state changes. Events that affect the operation of the system generate alerts to the Teradata Customer Services organization. This free software VM is included with each Vantage tier.

Teradata Tools and Utilities incorporate industry-standard interfaces to help integrate Vantage into the enterprise and streamline management tasks performed every day – such as moving massive volumes of data and accessing multiple data sources in parallel – along with taking crucial steps toward improving overall Teradata system performance. Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT) enables direct data loading via the TPT Access Module for Azure Blob. Teradata Tools and Utilities is included with each Vantage tier.

It provides administrators and end users with insights into their environment(s), including performance and health management. Teradata Data Lab (DIY)

Teradata Data Lab is the extension of what many customers call an “analytic sandbox”. The data lab enables agility in business analytics through rapid self-service loading and analysis of new data combined with existing production data. A data lab lets users explore and examine new ideas by combining new data with existing data so that it is easy to identify new trends and insight or react to immediate business issues. Teradata Data Lab is part of the optional paid VM “Teradata Viewpoint with Teradata Data Lab” that is available for use with each Vantage tier except Developer.

Teradata Data Mover (DIY)

Teradata Data Mover is a powerful data movement tool that intelligently chooses the fastest method to copy data and objects between databases. It is a utility designed specifically to copy data and objects such as tables and statistics from one Teradata system to another. Data Mover can run from a command line, a Viewpoint portlet for point and click convenience, or automatically triggered by Teradata Ecosystem Manager as part of a larger workflow. Teradata Data Mover is an optional paid VM available for use with each Vantage tier except Developer.

Teradata QueryGrid (DIY)

Teradata QueryGrid lets businesses work with a seamless data fabric across all data and analytical engines for no-hassle analytics. Users get the most value out of data by taking advantage of specialized processing engines operating as a cohesive analytic environment. Teradata QueryGrid, which consists of Teradata QueryGrid Manager and Teradata QueryGrid Connectors, minimizes data movement and processes data where it resides and transparently automates analytic processing and data movement between systems. Teradata QueryGrid Manager – without QueryGrid Connectors – is a free software VM available for use with each Vantage tier except Developer. Please contact the Teradata Account Team or contact Teradata to license the necessary QueryGrid Connectors.

Teradata Viewpoint (Multiple Systems) is an advanced web-based management portal for up to 10 Vantage systems and supporting products whether on-premises or in the cloud. It provides administrators and end users with insights into their environment(s), including performance and health management. It provides a consistent interface via configurable portlets which allows users to customize their own systems management dashboards. Teradata Viewpoint (Multiple Systems) is an optional paid VM available for use with each Vantage tier except Developer.
